Rajasthan Revisited: Painting the Colours of India

A painting trip to India was long overdue, having visited as a student decades ago! A chance now to paint all the splendid architecture and vibrant colours that Rajasthan could throw at me, in the Summer heat on the edge of the Thar Desert. Good job I don`t mind the heat, as the temperature rose to the mid 40`s in the middle of the day whilst I was painting!

My presence behind the easel made the locals very inquisitive, which added to the whole experience. I regularly had a crowd of children around me, watching with fascination  every brush stroke I made. On one occasion an elderly man, seeing that I had drawn quite a gathering, pulled up his stool beside me and started playing traditional Indian music on his Harmonium, clearly hoping to benefit financially from my audience! I remember a 5 legged cow  walked past my easel, offering me Good Luck by nearly knocking my easel over.

I will definitely return again one day as my colour palette has been expanded.
